Careful work
on the watches
that matter to you.
A workshop in Johor Bahru that handles water resistance testing, timing regulation, and staged restoration for mechanical and vintage timepieces. Each job is documented and returned with a written account of the work done.
Three focused areas of work
Each service is carried out at the bench, documented in writing, and returned with a clear account of what was done and what the findings showed.
Water Resistance Testing & Gasket Renewal
Dry pressure testing to check whether a case holds its rating, followed by renewal of case-back, crown, and pusher gaskets. Includes inspection of the crown tube and a written note of the pressure held. Most pieces returned within three working days.
- Dry pressure test before and after
- Crown tube inspection included
- Written record of pressure rating
Timing Regulation & Rate Adjustment
Measurement of amplitude, beat error, and daily rate across six positions on a timing machine. Adjustment of the regulator and hairspring where needed, followed by a 48-hour observation cycle. Owners receive before-and-after timing traces.
- Six-position timing machine check
- 48-hour observation cycle
- Before-and-after trace provided
Full Restoration for Heritage Pieces
A staged engagement for watches carrying age, patina, or family history. Covers documentation, movement teardown, corrosion assessment, component fabrication, case work, dial conservation, and final regulation. Each stage quoted and approved separately.
- Full photographic documentation
- Dial conservation over replacement
- Stage-by-stage owner approval
How we approach the work
The workshop is set up around unhurried attention to each piece. No shortcuts, no unsanctioned alterations.
Written findings for every job
Each piece leaves with a document describing what was found, what was done, and what the tests showed. You keep a record alongside the watch.
Approval before each stage
For restoration work, no stage begins without your sign-off. The work can pause at any point at your request, and partial work is costed only for what has been completed.
Conservation over replacement
Where an original dial, hand, or component can be preserved rather than replaced, that path is chosen first. Replacement is discussed and agreed, not assumed.
Timing machine traces on record
Rate regulation work includes printed before-and-after traces from the timing machine. The numbers are yours to keep and compare at a future service.
Pressure test repeated after reassembly
Water resistance work is verified twice — before the gasket work begins and after the case is closed. Both readings are noted in the service document.
Photographic record for heritage pieces
Restoration projects begin with a full photographic record of the piece as received. Images from each stage accompany the finished watch on return.
Have a watch that needs attention?
Bring it in, or get in touch first to describe what you're noticing. There is no obligation to proceed after an initial conversation.
Frequently asked
Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often at the workshop.
What does water resistance testing involve?
We use a dry pressure testing method — no water is applied to the watch. Air pressure is introduced into the case and held for a measured period. We record whether the case holds the specified rating, then renew the gaskets, clean the seating surfaces, and repeat the test after reassembly. A written note of both readings accompanies the watch on return.
How long does timing regulation take?
After the initial six-position measurement and any adjustments, the movement goes through a 48-hour observation cycle to confirm stability across the power reserve. In most cases the watch is ready for collection within five to seven working days. We will give you a more specific estimate when the watch comes in for assessment.
How is pricing handled for a heritage restoration?
The starting figure of RM 4,700 covers the initial stages of a typical heritage project. Because these pieces often reveal additional requirements once the movement is disassembled, each subsequent stage is quoted separately and requires your approval before proceeding. You are never committed to a stage you have not agreed to. The work can pause or conclude at any point.
Do you work on all watch brands and movements?
We work on a broad range of mechanical movements, including Swiss lever, cylinder, and various vintage calibres. If you have a watch that uses a movement outside our current scope, we will say so clearly during the initial assessment and will not proceed unless we are confident in the work. Please get in touch first to describe the piece.
Is a service appointment required, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome during workshop hours, though calling ahead or sending a message first is helpful for pieces requiring an extended initial discussion. For heritage restoration work in particular, a scheduled conversation allows us to give the piece the attention it deserves from the outset.
What happens if parts are no longer available for an older watch?
For components that cannot be sourced through normal supply channels, we assess whether fabrication is practical and within our scope. Where fabrication is proposed, it is costed and agreed before any work begins. If a required part is genuinely beyond what we can source or make, we will describe the situation plainly so you can make an informed decision about the path forward.
